Mont-St-Pierre
We stopped for lunch in Mont-Saint-Pierre, walled in between two immense near-vertical cliffs whose rockslides tumble into the St. Lawrence. Under sunny skies, the shallow cove's crystal clear water was perfect for a quick swim after lunch.
Above: We rolled past the western cliffs on our way into town.
Below: The eastern cliff is a jumping-off place for hang gliders and ultralight aircraft.
Mont-Saint-Pierre hosts a hang-gliding festival every August.
Bottom Left: The road in and out of town follows the base of the cliffs, right next to the ocean.
This sign warns motorists that during severe storms waves sometimes
crash over the highway and wash cars off the road.
Bottom Right:This sign was hanging inside a first-floor window on the main street.
