Charlevoix arrière-pays
On Day 6 the Grand Tour explored the Charlevoix back country. Highlights included an antique thatch-roofed barn (right), and a stop at the boulangerie (bakery) in the tiny village of Sainte-Agnes.

Situated across the street from the church, the bakery had an outdoor wood-fired bread oven (below right), built with a clay arch over a stone base, just like the community bread oven in our small town in Vermont.

There was also an outdoor terrace (below left) where you could sit and enjoy your purchases. The blueberry bread looked absolutely delicious, and many cyclists seemed to agree with my assessment, because there was a long line of customers out the front door. Ca vaut la peine d'attendre, I heard one satisfied customer say - it was worth the wait!
