Soaking Up The Sun - La Malbaie
Day 5 was a washout. We cycled from Sacré-Coeur to Tadoussac in the rain, rode the ferry across the Saguenay in the rain, and cycled to Baie-Ste-Catherine in the rain. It wasn't just rainy, it was also cold and windy. A classic "northeaster," as we call them here in Vermont. You don't really need to see any photos from Day 5.

But the next morning we woke up under a brilliant blue sky. A perfect day with a light northwest breeze, low humidity, and temperatures in the 70's (22-25 Celsius). Perfect for drying out our clothes and soaking up the beauty of the Charlevoix region. Ascending the hills behind La Malbaie it looked like we were climbing right out of the vast blue ocean (right) - but actually it was the fleuve Saint-Laurent - the broad St. Lawrence River.

Later that morning, climbing out of Saint-Irénée (below), the St. Lawrence had narrowed and you could actually see the far shore.
