Lake George, New York

Tongue Mountain on Lake George's west shore
Lake George is a landlocked fjord deep in northern New York's Adirondack Mountains.
Thirty miles long, it has over 200 islands, most of them in the lake's midsection known as the Narrows. In the Narrows, the mountains rise up over 2000 feet from the lakeshore, and there is no road along either the west shore (top photo) or the east shore (bottom photos).
