Lake Massasecum, New Hampshire
Lake Massasecum in Bradford (left) is a broad oval 1½ miles long. The lakeshore is ringed by high hills and mountains. The surface is punctuated by one large island and several small rocky outcrops. Route 114 parallels Massasecum's west shore, and a spectacular cliff known as Guild Hill (below) rises from the east shore. Many of the cottages on the east shore are accessible only by boat. Just offshore from one cottage, there is a miniature lighthouse (right) perched on a rock.
Massasecum has a state-maintained boat launch ramp, and a town park with a small beach, both just off Route 114 on the southwest shore. Massasecum often has excellent black ice in December, and smooth gray ice from January through mid-March.
